Lies and Damned Lies

to spouse sleeping on couch: 'Hey, wake up.'

sleepy spouse: 'Huh?'

'Check out the hearth of the fireplace.'

'Seriously. Just do it.'

'Is that a scorpion hauling ass across the hearth?'

'Yeah. He sure does blend in.'

'Yeah he does.'

'Will you kill it?'

'Me? Why can't you kill it? You're closer, and more awake.'

'Yeah, but I'm pregnant. My midwife told me not to kill things while I'm pregnant.'

'Yeah, I promise.'

Question for Anyone ...

Can anyone tell me about websites? Ok, ok, I realize that that is a rather vague question. I want to build a website (or have one built) that looks decent, and has a few easy functions, but I can't pay too much money for it. Any help (or even pointing me in the right general direction) would be much appreciated! Email me at brea_stewart at hotmail dot com.

(Hi Mrs Molly!! Glad to see ya missed me so much!! Prayers still going out for your fam, and I hope you have a great visit with your sister. Kiss her boys lots while they're here!!!)

My pumpkin and watermelon plants are trying to take over my year, but none of them have produced any fruit yet. Am I doing something wrong? Also, in other news where I am proud of myself, I MADE A SCARF. A whole scarf. It's pink, and for Evie. And I am making one for Sam right now that has STRIPES. That's right, I have learned how to knit stripes!! I am just so very excited.

I've been going back and reading more of To Train Up A Child, and I still love it! And I realized that I have so much to learn. About myself, about John, and the kids, about parenting, and my marriage ...

xxsighxx ... When do I actually start to feel like a grownup?

Sam turns 4 tomorrow!!!! Ahhh!!!! Someone help me! I want to cry. I can't believe he's already 4. It's all going by too fast. But he is so cute! At church yesterday, he wore the cutest polo-style shirt, but instead of the dude playing polo on the front, it had a little lizzard. And he had on khakis and brown shoes ... he looked to much like his (wonderful!) dad.

We've been in the house for over 6 months now. That's also hard to believe. We are having so much fun here. We all went down to the ravine on the back half of our land, where we've got an old table and some chairs set up on a little platform that John dug out a while back. It's supposed to get HOT again today, but it felt so nice down there earlier. We also did our Bible verse for the week, and read a little bit. Then John and I spelled words in the sand on the table, and the kids practiced writing their letters and reading the words.

Mom and Wes and his friends leave for Galveston this afternoon, and we'll go up to join them on Thursday evening. The kids and John are really looking forward to it. Me? I'm not so crazy about the beach, but I am crazy about all of my family, so I'll have a great time, too. Sherry is coming up Saturday, and bringing a fish cake for Sam, so we'll have his little family party then. I think Papa might come visit, too, but he may have other plans. Who knows?

We watched the Astros game last night, where we were leading 9-1 in the 8th inning, and ended up winning 10-9 in the 13th. Good grief, do we know how to blow a game. And almost blow a game. But I still loooooove the Astros. At one point during the game, I had 5 hands of my belly. Both hands of each kid, and one of John's. The kids love to feel the baby kick, and s/he was really moving around last night.

Have I mentioned that John is the best dad EVER? Cause he is. I have never seen a father have more fun just hanging out with his kids! It never ceases to amaze me how much people miss out with their kids, just because they're 'too busy.' Whatever. If you get too busy for your family, you've got problems, because outside of your relationship with the Lord, there is not a damned thing that is more improtant than family.

So there.

Verse for the week:

Proverbs 13:20 "He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."

We've been studying wisdom lately, and it's been interesting to see the kids learn this stuff. I love it! And on that note, I have laundry to do and a bagel to eat.

Remember Me?

I'm still around, I promise. Our computer crashed a while ago (the motherboard fried!!), and I'm still trying to figure out this new one. I have no idea how to do any of the picture stuff yet, which thankfully, we were able to have most of recovered. I have also been incredibly busy lately, because a) I have become decent at this stoopid knitting thing, and have now completeld two scarves that look semi-not awful, and b) my children have become much more crafty, and silent.

Yesterday, I was upstairs cleaning the bathroom, and them it hit me: Hmm, I haven't heard my children in almost 47 seconds. I went sprinting down the stairs, out the door, to discover that both children were ass-deep in the pond. The icky, ooey-gooey, muck-filled, frog-and-snake (garter, don't worry!)-infested, gross pond. All this in 47 seconds!

I've been totally rocking out with the domestic work lately, also. Which has made the wonderful man extremely happy. I seem to be forming some great new habbits, and John and I are both hoping this isn't pregnancy-related, but that I may actually be maturing and growing up some. Who knows? John has been working 10-12 hour days almost every shift that he works, because of staffing issues and other things, so we're all ready for the store he's at to get over this little hump. It has not been too much fun, but I am valuing our time with him more than ever.

The Astros are starting that new guy tonight ... that one dude they're just now bringing up from the minors ... what's-his-name ... I swear, it's on the tip of my tounge ... Oh, right!! ROGER eff-INF CLEMENS!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!! My boys have have been sucking much less lately than they were, so maybe there's still hope yet. I (heart) the Astros sooo much. Especially Brad Ausmus. And Craig Biggio. And Joe College, the wonderful Morgan Ensberg. And I wish they would bring Brandon Backe off the DL, because I totally (heart) him, too!!

On that note, I must go make a supper that will allow us to eat at the coffee table. John is still at work, even though it is almost 7, and he left this morning at 7:15. Thank God he's got a 3-day this weekend, and vacation coming after that!!
