Would you vote for him after reading this?

Wow. I'm not one to post a ton of political stuff on my site, but I came across this article from July 19, 2006 on WorldNetDaily.com this morning. It truly scares me.

Why Jesus Would Not Vote For Barack Obama

What the hell is wrong with some people? Seriously!

Thank you so much for your post. That was just one more horrendous thing I had not yet heard about him. This was the first time I had visited your blog. Great reading!

That is terrible! Not surprising, and terrible.

Ya'll should do a bit more thinking for yourselves...Jill Stanek admits to poor journalism. Not surprising.

Yet another example of Stanek's inability to deliver facts to the American people without making a fool out of herself and the Republican Party: http://archpundit.com/blog/2008/08/19/jill-stanek-follies/

Why are you posting information written by a woman who is against condoms — in Africa. She's raising money for more billboards in Tanzania with the message: "Faithful condom users die."

Just another horrendous thing you have not yet heard about her.

That story you posted isn't true. You should read more news.

Any protection that fetuses would have received under the Illinois legislation was ALREADY enforced under the current law at the time. This was a BS bill, aimed to chip away at women's right to privacy, clear and simple.

Anonymous said...

This woman (Stanek) is the living-murderer, she wants to kill people in Africa, giving them bad advice. MURDERER.

That's criminal. She's literally encouraging the deaths of thousands of women and children.

Anonymous said...

Another right wing religious propaganda, telling Africans not to use condoms and turn around and say there you go Africa has the highest HIV Aids blah blah blah, in plain common sense "Prevention is better than cure"

Anonymous said...

Americans are tired of this kind of anti-scientific, flat earth BS. birth control stops unwanted pregnancies from ever occurring. if you hate abortion, support comprehensive sex education or stop whining.

Maybe women better start fast to comprehend period what they are doing murdering perid. Obama does not tell women what to do it is their choice free will choice that God has given all. We are not to judge period that is sin. Obama is pro-life but also has much compassion in trying to "understand why women come to their own choice in abortion". We do not need a God we all have our God and God's law and Ten Commandments period. We need a President and Obama is a Christian and believes in Jesus Christ and jesus himself was NOT GIVEN THAT AUTHORITY BY HIS OWN FATHER OUR GOD TO JUDGE ANYONE. Jesus forgave and Jesus also told us not to judge only God has that power. But we are commanded to forgive one another as I have forgiven you!!! Jesus came were we not all Jesus enemies??? We were also even a NEW COMMANDMENT---"love your enemies as you "love thy self"!!!go to Obama web site--Keith O whow whow put McCain in his place and with Mccains own words! Obama was right when he said that is above my pay grade----God has not given him that authority to judge but to love with compassion and work for women to give them the help and support their needs, a year off with pay if you have a child, etc understand the why and the thats to support women! Not TO JUDGE THEM! God gives no one that authority, and obama was saying God is all divine wisdom when life beginnings--for God knew us before he placed us in our mothers wombs--Mccain you are wiser then the Creator who Created you!!!!We need a President we have our God and his laws!!!Even Jesus did not remove one law of God's Commandments or changed them!! Woe is he who does. God forces no one McCain nor should YOU!!

your are taking a situation that happens very rarely and scrutinizing Obama on it. His opposition to the bill was to stop back door "pro-life" legislation to get passed. Because the definition of when a fetus becomes under government jurisdiction (when the government should protect its life) and is not longer the womens/mother, this bill was going to allow for "pro-life" advocates to challenge abortion. If the bill was passed than lawsuits could be taken out on civilians for getting an abortion because it would violate this legislation/law. This was a smart move by Obama understand what this legislation would look like in practice and NOT advocating it just because how dapper it looks on paper and for some more votes. If Obama can make that clear in the debates and emphasize the fact the he made a intelligent and competent decision he will do fine, if anything else he will win the debates

Anonymous said...

This gal is a head case. Africa has the largest per-capita death rate from AIDS in the world and this idiot is trying to scare Africans away from using condoms? What a total loony!

Anonymous said...

are americans really that stupid? isnt there already a law that prohibits killing of infants? doesnt america have a criminal code that punishes murder/homicide? wow. these pro-lifers are really not the sharpest crayons in the box.

Anonymous said...

Eric Zorn has been arguing with this crazy woman for years now. Stanek has a good heart but a view that would be considered extreme when it comes to being pro-life. But if you believe life begins at conception, this is the only consistent viewpoint that respects the rights of the unborn. Personally, I think existing laws and ethical codes protect newborn children who are born alive - there was no need for an additional law. And truth is, most people arguing about this stuff don't have law degrees and don't understand bioethics very well. Christ Hospital allegations were extreme, unfounded, and never substantiated except by Stanek.

Pro lifers go to your library and get some good 1st grade books to read. Obama is Pro choice & believes its a womans'choice because its her body. That bill was merely a back handed approach to get a pro life agenda into law. Sen. Obama saw it for what it was. Why don't Mr & Mrs Pro life, visit the thousands of orphanages & adopt one of those children that are housed in those god forsaken places that could care less than a darn about them. Out of sight out of mind right? What hypocrites you are!

Anonymous said...

No one wants babies to be killed after they are born. I am pro-choice but not a murderer. I am aginst these fanatic pro-lifers who oppose any kind of abortion based on morality. Bob Barr was against abortion and called Clinton baby killer while he paid for his wife Gayle to have an abortion ( he himself took her to the doctor). He was planning to divorce her for another woman. That's hypocrisy. Barabar Bush said in her autobio that abortion should be kept out of politics. I agree with her. These hypocrites want to protect the fetus but when the unwanted baby is born, they don't care about him, if he is abused or murder.

This billboard actually made me sick. The only good thing is that the very God she thinks she is working for will judge her and find her as disgusting as I do. She is one of the reasons that our culture is turning away from religion. It isnt the godless culture it is the wackos who claim to speak and act for God. Who in their sane mind would want this God?

The one thing I always know is that when I read post by right wing nuts they just reconfim my ideas about them. I'll tell you my right wing nuts let's get rid of condoms, lets get rid of birth control, lets get rid of Viagra, let's get rid of having your tubes tide, let's get rid of everything. We can go back to the wonderful days where there were millions of unwanted children in the world working in factories to support your all important need for stuff. People like you shout scream call people all different kinds of names and yet then which one adopted a child? Which one is a foster parent? Which one has traveled to Africa see the mothers and babies dying from AIDS. It is just another example of how unintellegent and how uninformed most of you on the right are. Ignorance is rampaint on the right, stupid all wrapped up in a little right wing party.

ANTI-ABORTION = ANTI-CONTRACEPTION Wake up, folks!

ahhhhhh, you gotta love those wedge issues - it must be election season again, right wing nutjobs fall for it everytime. Vote against your self interest AGAIN idiots!!

Anonymous said...

Those of you who have taken the time to read the facts on this matter, thank you. Those of you who are making comments based on things that are not true please educate yourself. The facts show he voted against the bill because of the additional issues tacked onto it not the medical care for the newborn infant. That law is already on the books and the doctors oath requires that. Doctors in the operation room or not just going to kill live babies. For God sake get a grip! Let me ask this though. In 2000 the GOP brought up the big abortion issue and partially as a result won the election. Same thing in 2004. Over the majority of that 8 years the GOP controled the House and Senate and had the President. After all the election promises what has the GOP changed reference abortion? Nothing! So again in 2008 the hot button abortion issue has reared it's head and the pro-life fanatics are jumping on board despite the fact that even if McCain wins nothing will change on this issue. You can bet it will come up again in 2012. Forget all the other important social issues that the democrats stand for and the GOP is against. Just run the abortion flag up the pole and all the people will fall in line. So sad and unfortunate.

Anonymous said...

Oh my God, that woman is a nutjob! She accuses Obama of wanting to kill babies here, yet she's trying to prevent people from using condoms in Africa? Doing that would cause millions of deaths, among children AND adults. Sorry, but abstinence-only "education" is NOT a solution there, especially in the short term. What a sick woman.

Typical Republican Moron.

Repubs don't care about babies. They oppose tax increases that may go to help these babies born to poor women. they believe in something they never do, say no to sex if you aren't amrried. They say yes even if they are married. Who knows how many of them have paid for abortions or many of those women already had abortions and now want to deny that right to other women. Those who cast stones are hiding something bad.

Anonymous said...

To any rational thinking people out there who 'truly' understand this issue: Obama and McCain are BOTH Pro-Life! The only difference between the candidates is that Obama respects the law of the land and would never presume to tell ANY woman to abort/not abort their baby. In the 'Forum' fiasco Obama stated unequivically that he is 'not pro-abortion', stating correctly that it was above his 'pay grade' (meaning 'I would never presumptively try to play 'God'). I agree. I'm staunchly pro-life (believing life begins at conception), but would never interfere with a woman's choice. That decision is between the expectant mother and her God. McCain was pandering and doesn't give a rat's rump what women think, or what they decide to do. As long as he's not obligated to pay child support.

Anonymous said...

Amazing how uninformed people are. Let's get you up to speed: First: the wingnuts are talking about 2 bills, HB1093 in 2001 and HB1082 in 2003. Both contained an identical 'poison pill' statement "A live child born as a result of an abortion shall be fully recognized as a human person and accorded immediate protection under the law.". A 'live birth' is defined in part as any fetus with 'breath OR a heartbeat. So if this was passed into law you could take a 12 week old aborted fetus who's heart beat once or twice, assign it a lawyer and attack Rov v. Wade with it. Had nothing to do with 'protecting babies' since in both cases Illinois law protects all live births with or without the proposed legislation. In 2003 the only new legislation was the poison pill. The legislature refused to pass the bill and it was sent back to committee where the Republicans eventually amended it to remove the poison pill and make it word for word identical to the federal statute. By doing so the bill now had NOTHING that wasn't already covered in Illinois statute. The committee voted to not send the now pointless bill back to the floor and sent it back to the Rules committee where it died as most redundant and pointless bills do second time through. No infanticide in 2001 or 2003, just Republican partisan political theater. One interesting fact is the only reason the 2001 legislation had any validity is because the Republican Attorney General refused to enforce the abortion law as it was currently written that would have amply protected all 'live births' already. Just another Republican strawman because their candidate can't run on his own merits.

First -- to the (surprise!) ignorant Obama Haters: Barack is a Hebrew name. I think it is wonderfully symbolic that our future President has an Hebrew name, an Arabic name (and name of one of our most important allies in the Middle East, the late King Hussein of Jordan) and an African name. Obama also had a mother with wonderful Christian and Anglo-Saxon names. Second: Obama voted against a badly written law that DID NOT AFFECT A SINGLE BABY. BORN OR UNBORN. The people who tried to pass the law Obama voted against are mindless zealots, who only care about punishing people who have sex for pleasure and who do not support family planning. And finally -- too many of you people who moan and weep about "the unborn" have a disturbing lack of compassion for the "born." Shameful.

The only way to believe that is if you have done next to no research on this issue.

By making this about who voted for what when, you guys think you can conceal the real story, which is:

1) You exploit people in pain for ideological gains against women's rights

2) You lied about your intentions behind this bill in order to dismantle women's rights and

3) You're paranoid, right wing freaks who are singularly obsessed with sex and dirtiness, with an anti-sex, anti-human, anti-woman agenda out of line with the beliefs of 98% of Americans.

But I won't let you distract me from the important facts.

o many ignorant anti-women wackos still exist): stop. just stop. you WILL NOT win this, you WILL NOT succeed in taking away mine, nor any women's, right to do with my life/body what i need to do. you may think so. i know it seems that anti-choicers are many...but that's only because you're all so vocal about your ignorant agenda. but, push we pro-choicers another step further, and you will quickly learn that the majority is absolutely for a women's right to choose, to privacy, to freedom, and to liberty.

i dare any right-wing wacko to try explaining to a holocaust survivor that a pregnancy being terminated compares with the living hell that actual humans had to endure.
and that utility room story - investigated with NO PROOF found that it ever happened.

Just to clarify this -- Jill admitted to me, though she didn't have to admit it since it was there in plain English on her blog and WorldNet daily column, that she erred earlier this year in characterizing/describing Obama's actions in a committee proceeding in 2003. In short, she said he refused to allow an amendment to be attached to the bill (when, in fact, he joined in the unanimous committee vote to accept the amendment) and that he refused to allow a vote on the bill (when, in fact, the bill was voted on and six Democrats voted no, beating out four Republicans).
This particular error is NOT now part of the debate on this issue; I brought it up mostly to help illustrate how complex and convoluted this subject really is; how the foremost champion of "born alive" legislation in Illinois got so turned around in the thickets that she passed along significantly erroneous information to her readers at one point.

George W. Bush was elected twice, despite signing into law a bill that left a born alive 5-month-old infant to die. How does that square with your theory?

Anonymous said...

After a generation of misinformation from the far-right, most Americans still believe women should have the legal right to do that when it comes to her body too.

Anonymous said...

Unlike you, I don't think most people are willing to harass others over the medical decisions they need to make regarding their own bodies. Most people find that sort of behavior crass, offensive, and harmful. Although, mocking and judging those who are suffering medical problems has become somewhat of a staple of the far-right extremists so I guess I'm not surprised to see you suggest it. Like Rush Limbaugh mocking people with Parkinson's, Michael Savage mocking people with autism. I realize that appeals to a certain sick mindset, and it's unfortunate it gets championed and encouraged by people like yourself.

War-lover George Bush signed the bill into law that allowed for the asphyxiation of an infant, despite the objections of the child's mother? It appears conservatives had no problem electing war-lover George Bush to office, twice, even though he left a legacy of letting born alive infants die (even when the mother wants to continue life support for her infant), and are poised to go and vote for yet another war-lover.

As usual, the far-right extremists come across as confused, ignorant, or malevolent.

The poor sweet baby with it’s non-functioning lungs and nothing more than an anecdotal story from a person who was fired for politically crusading on the job and has gone on to seek fame and fortune as the face of the anti-abortion movement in the fundamentalist community.

Reality check. 22 week fetuses cannot survive outside the womb. When the cervix is relaxed and opened, by whatever means physical or pharmaceutical, the fetus CANNOT survive. Therefore it becomes imperitive to remove the fetus so that necrotic tissue is not allowed to deteriorate within the uterus causing toxic shock and death to the mother. Fairy tales of wriggling fetuses struggling for breath may generate big bucks from credulous fundamentalists, but since this woman has no corroborative evidence to back her claims up, I’m content to write her off as just another fundie panty-sniffing nutbag.

Anonymous said...

Point of clarification.

It’s my understanding that the abortions referred to by Jill Stanek were not D&X (or PBAs), but Induction Abortion. The difference is that a drug is administered to induce labor while the baby is pre-viable so she will die on her own shortly after delivery. This is how they have babies that can survive an abortion. I was puzzled when I first heard that some babies can survive an abortion. How would a baby survive having her brains sucked out, right? The baby in a Induction abortion is not physically assaulted as she is in a PBA so she can survive through delivery, though often she does not.

Unknown said...

Hi Brea- It's Shelly. I just wanted to say that I am really tired of hearing about "partial birth abortions." They don't exist. I know this because I am a part of the medical community. I am sure that you must be aware that the medical community calls miscarriages abortions and abortions are known as "elective abortions." It is very easy to get pictures of these late term abortions on the internet because indeed sometimes doctors are called upon to remove a dead fetus at later terms in the pregnancy or sometimes they are expelled naturally but do not survive. There are already laws in place to prevent late term elective abortions and it is also against the Hippocratic oath. It is very sad when a doctor has to remove these dead babies from women. In order to remove them (if labor cannot be induced) a vacuum is used and yes this does damage the fetus but it is done so that women do not get poisoned by dying tissue inside of them. Often times these babies have serious malformations and already look deformed and horrendous to us, even if they are not especially marred by the procedure.

Honestly, I could only make it through about a third of this article. I was so obviously skewing the truth. For some reason people still want to believe that horrific mangling of viable fetuses happens by reputable doctors in this country but it does not. It is such a non-issue in the medical field because everyone knows that it does not exist. There are no medical students that say "Oh I could never be an OB/GYN because I would hate doing those partial birth abortions." Believe me, the medical field if full of Pro-Lifers... in fact, that is that majority of the medical community. If it was an issue, you would constantly see doctors on tv talking about it. The media loves seeing a fight. However, it is not an issue. The only people talking about it do not have the real knowledge of what goes on behind the doors between doctor and patient. These people make up nightmare-ish scenarios that would be very scary if true. However it just proves how demented their minds are. This woman claims to have been a nurse but she clearly did not understand the medical reasons that caused these abortions (aka miscarriages).

That being said, elective abortions of earlier date are a very real thing and you can feel however you like about that. That is an issue in the medical community. However, as a physician you have a right to deny any medical procedure that you don't want to do.

I am not writing this to give you any opinion on your political views. I actually hope this gives you peace of mind knowing that no one is mangling viable fetuses. When you see stats of abortions happening after 22 weeks gestation please try to remember that these are not elective abortions. If the baby has a heartbeat outside of the womb it is called premature birth. If the baby died in utero it is called an abortion.
