a quick pop in

Read this article. Discuss amongst yourselves. We'll talk more later.

So many things to do today. Bathrooms and vacuuming, running a few quick errands, school, and ... starting my fall garden!!! I'm really excited, and the kids and I are going to start working as soon as we're done with breakfast (before it gets too hot!).

The Ellisons were over yesterday ... 8 kids under 9 were at our house! It was noisy and wonderful. I can't imagine a quiet life without lots of kids running around. But David just bit my arm, and I can imagine a life without teeth marks near my wrist. I'm just sayin.'

Hi Brea! I read the article you posted about from WorldNetDaily and I hope I understood it correctly. I feel so bad for this young mom. I have left my daugther (now 10) in the back seat of the truck. She fell asleep, and it was her first day at a new daycare in town, and I didn't remember about her until I got out at work, and reached in the back to get my purse. It scared me! I had to get back in the car, and take her down to the daycare (I was late for work!) Good thing it was winter time (in Texas) so she wouldn't have died from the heat or cold, but it still scared me.

I agree that society and today's culture places too much pressure on a mom. Even my husband has told me that he doesn't like "keeping me" or being the only one working so that I can sit at home and do nothing. So, even he has bought into the lie that society has been passing around. I don't feel kept, but I don't like being told or made to feel that I am dead weight or lazy.

It is hard to realize as an older mom (38) that motherhood is so devalued, not only by society in general, but by your own family as well. I can't tell you how many times my mom, dad, sister ask me "do you have a job yet?"

I HAVE A JOB...I AM A MOTHER AND A WIFE. I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A JOB OUTSIDE THE HOME. LOL!
